We Rotaract club of Anand institute of higher technology along with anti-drug club and NSS of our college together conducted the awareness program on drugs addiction "Drugs No More" to our college students on 15th March at the main auditorium of Anand institute of Higher technology. The Event started with the prayer song followed by welcome address by Dr. Sumitra Devi, Anti-Drug Club Coordinator. The principal of our college Dr P. Suresh Mohan Kumar addressed the gatherings. Ms. Rtr. Nokitha, content writer of our club, introduced the Thiru. A.K.Ravikumaran, Deputy commissioner of police, Kelambakkam, as the speaker of the day.
He took the session on drugs addiction to our students, explaining the consequences of drugs intake and that's effect on education, family and career. He further explained it with real time examples and the drug addiction cases he handled. He advised the students to beware of the bad surroundings, who force us to try drugs just once. And, the whole addiction cycle which makes us a slave to them. He further adds how drinking, smoking and drug habits are adapted by students and how the cycle runs, to make us addict for it.
Later, he distributed prizes to students who won the events like mime, short film and so on conducted by Anti-drug club of our college. Followed, by Vote of Thanks by Dr. M. Saravanan, NSS program officer and National Anthem. After the speaker of the day sent off, various cultural programs are conducted to our students. The winners of Mime competition performed in front of the students and to create awareness about drugs addiction and how it spoilt the life of other people. Then, all the short films participated in the competition were made to play in the auditorium lead to a huge response from our students, which made our students realise how dangerous drugs are, in the filmy way.
